Light

Philodendrons thrive in bright, indirect light. While they can tolerate lower light conditions, their growth may slow down, and their leaves may become smaller.

Watering

Water your philodendron when the top inch of soil feels dry. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so ensure the pot has good drainage. During the growing season (spring and summer), water more frequently, while reducing it in the dormant months (autumn and winter).

Humidity

These plants appreciate humidity levels of 50% or higher. If the air is too dry, consider using a humidifier or placing the pot on a tray of pebbles filled with water to increase moisture around the plant.

Temperature

Philodendrons prefer temperatures between 18°C and 27°C. Avoid exposing them to draughts, sudden temperature drops, or placing them near heating vents.

Soil

Use a well-draining potting mix, such as one designed for orchids or aroid mixes that contain perlite, peat, and bark. This composition allows for good aeration and drainage.

Fertilising
